Little Saint has many faces. The cottage has a view to the northwest across a 100-acre bay. In the middle of the bay sits a small island which rises majestically from the water, its pines and birch holding the terra firma solidly in place.

A few years back I traded my beloved Piper Cherokee for a newer, faster and more sophisticated aircraft, a Rockwell Commander. Having a value investor mindset, i.e., a frugal disposition, an opportunity was presented that allowed me to purchase the Commander at a below market price.

Persistence may not be perceived as one of the most important components in fishing but is imperative. The “experts” speak of technique, gear, lure/bait/fly selection, “reading the water”, destination, or time of the year as prime determinates of success.

Situational Awareness: the perception of the elements in the environment, comprehension of their meaning, and projection of their status in the near future, crucial for safe and effective decision making.
